Today we present the - Worst Mom of The Week Award
I have been collecting nominations for this most dubious award and have tallied the results. Although Molly has tried to nominate herself several times for things like - poorly wrapped presents at a gift exchange, and allowing her son to pick out his own clothes, she is not the winner.
This week's winner had an average run of the pack week but then sprinted into the lead on Thursday.
Thursday was the day of this mom's children's school's (could I get another possessive in that sentence)"winter" parties (please read this as Christmas but we aren't allowed to call it that - ugh!). This mother was aware of this date and yet knowingly scheduled her eldest's doctors appointment on this day - precisely at the time of the holiday festivities. This appointment meant that not only would the child visiting the Dr. not be in attendance but that the mom in question would not be attending her other child's party either.
The other child is where this mom really made her push for the medal stand. The mom began her morning at 5 am when the youngest child came downstairs announcing that he was dressed, ready for school and had made his bed. GO TO YOUR ROOM AND LAY DOWN, is how she groggily greeted him. No accolades for the self-sufficient actions he took this morning. Once the mom got out of bed, she swiftly entered into an hour long argument with her son on which shirt to wear to school. After strong arming him into her selection, she sent him off to school quiet pleased with herself.
It was 10 minutes later when she received a call from her son. He was near tears when he said "Mom, today is not pajama day!".
The problem being that Mom had in fact dressed, ne forced her son to dress in his pj's for school. The earlier argument stemming from which pajama shirt to wear.
She quickly raced to school with a change of clothes and begged for forgiveness. Her son was all to willing, but I am certain there will be a loss of trust come Friday morning when she tries to send him out to school once again in his jammies. And if it doesn't come to the surface on Friday, I am certain it will be something he will discuss with his therapist in his middle age.
Congratulations CF - you are the winner of Worst Mom of The Week.
** Please submit your own Worst Mom of the Week nominations for consideration on upcoming weeks.
